Taking the right medication at the right time remains one of the greatest challenges associated with aging and managing chronic conditions. Forgetfulness, schedule mix-ups, and difficulty keeping up with medication routines compromise treatment efficacy and increase anxiety for family members and caregivers. Balvia was created to address this challenge.
The project resulted from a collaboration between researchers and entrepreneurs linked to the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança, who sought out Everythink to transform a concept in development into a market-ready product. Beyond developing the solution, the process included defining the service and creating the new brand identity.

Development began with a deep understanding of user routines. We analyzed patient and caregiver profiles, real-world usage contexts, and the physical, cognitive, and technological limitations that affect daily medication management. Based on these insights, Everythink led an iterative process of research, prototyping, and validation, using usage simulations, interface development, and successive testing.
The goal was not just to create a device, but to design a coherent, intuitive, and reliable ecosystem where product, service, and experience work in an integrated way.

The result is an electronic medication dispenser with a touchscreen interface, complemented by smartphone and smartwatch notifications and the ability for remote programming by caregivers or healthcare professionals. The system automatically logs doses, identifies missed ones, and facilitates remote monitoring, promoting greater therapeutic accuracy and confidence.

In parallel, the Balvia brand identity was developed, based on the principles of assisted longevity and digital trust. The solution's modular architecture allows it to be adapted to different user profiles, from pediatrics to care for complex chronic diseases, and for future integration with telemonitoring platforms and home care services.

More than just a medication dispenser, Balvia represents a new way of caring. A project where technology, design, and experience work together to preserve independence, reduce the burden on caregivers, and offer the peace of mind that comes from knowing prescribed therapy is being followed accurately.
